Garden report: the frost damaged many of the flowers. Some pots on the porch were protected and are still blooming. One green tomato that I bagged is starting to turn red. The pots of dead flowers now enter the garage for the winter.

The annual Cranberry Fair will be held Saturday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First Church on Main Street, according to an email from Ben Coakley. The event includes toys, tools, games, clothes, antiques, sports equipment, and more, as well as a silent auction, baked goods and lunch.

The church usually had a banner hung over Pleasant Street to publicize the event. However, a car crashed into the pole that holds one of the banner ends, according to Nancy Spencer in an email. Other events may lose access to the banner hanging, depending on how long repairs take. The fair is free and open to the public.
