Linda Wentworth, head of collections at the Jones Library sent me an email about a new monthly poetry discussion group that is being formed.  The first meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 4 p.m. at Applewood on Spencer Drive led by ARHS English teacher Chris Herland. It’s free and open to the public.

Becoming a Beloved Community, a community conversation for everyone, will be held Thursday, Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the Bangs Center. The event is sponsored by the Department of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in collaboration with Community Heart and Soul. A meal is included. The event is free and open to the public. Becoming a beloved community is a goal worth working on.

Gina Kaufman, my Orchard Valley Neighbor and Silverthorne Theater Company director, sent me an email about the Valentine Cabaret “Love Came and Hit Me in the Eye” that will be held Saturday, Feb. 21 at 2 and 7 p.m. at City Space, 43 Main St., Easthampton.  Visit: silverthornetheater.org for tickets.

Historic Northampton is sponsoring a gallery talk, “Slavery and Freedom in Northampton,” Sunday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. It’s free and open to the public.

The traffic light on University Drive by the Big Y entry is blinking again. This is a common occurrence. The good news is that traffic flows smoothly despite the malfunction.

Reminder: Return your census forms. I work at the election polls and people who don’t return the form are dropped from the voting lists. However, many who don’t  return the form do want to vote so it takes longer to identify their status. Thanks. Also it’s time to register dogs.
