Bonnie Isman of Amherst sent an email about the League of Women Voters Judy Brooks Conversation Series that will be held via Zoom, Thurs., Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. The program features a presentation by the Racial Justice Committee on recommendations of the Community Safety Working Group. The holiday fair season has begun. The Cranberry Fair will be held at the First Congregation Church Sat., Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to an email from Nancy Spencer. The event includes toys, books, clothes, antiques, silent auction, baked goods and lunch. Admission is free.

Historic Northampton will present a concert, “Made in the Valley,” 19th century music Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence. Sliding  scale admission $15-50. To register visit: www.historicnorthampton.org.

Jeanne Horrigan of Amherst wrote in email that Nov. 15 is the deadline to complete the  Council on Aging /Senior Services survey for residents age 50 and over. The survey is on line: Amherst.ma.gov/senior-survey. Paper copies are available at the Senior center or call 259-3060. I filled one out.

Jeffery Blaustein  of Amherst sent me email photos of the trip to Croatia and the Dolomites. Great pictures of a waterfall, narrow walkway and hillside.

Mary Burlington and David Schatz of Amherst emailed photos of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, which they wrote, is  “magnificent. The Pope was in town but unfortunately our paths did not cross, maybe next time.”

Linda Marston and Dennis Bromery of Amherst sent a vintage postcard of Atkins Farm Fruit Bowl, as it was called then. It features a small mound of white pumpkins and planted  mums in the grass divider. They shop there about three times a week and attend the wine tasting where the vintage postcards were available, they wrote.
