Garden report: The tulips and forsythia have bloomed. The columbine are several inches high, while the hosta are just starting to pop out. I planted radish and snow pea seeds.
Indoors the marigold, Shasta daisies, sunflower , forget-me-not and larkspur seeds have sprouted. It’s s a great time for plants and to be outdoors with the dirt.
Winter is over. I removed the snow scraper from the car and washed the mittens.

Saturday could be a marathon day if you go to all the events scheduled that day.
The Farmers Market starts it season Saturday at 7:30 a.m. and shares the Common with the Sustainability Festival that begins at 10 a.m. Full disclosure: I help my friends at the Sunset Farm booth at the Farmers Market.
You can drop off unused prescription drugs at the Wildwood Elementary School parking lot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., pick up free magazines at the Jones Library, and attend the Bach Festival Concert at UMass at 7:30 p.m., tickets at the door.
In addition, William Matthew will speak Saturday on “The Easter Uprising” at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Meeting House. The event is sponsored by the Amherst Irish Association.
Sunday also has some Bach Festival concerts. Check the UMass website for details.

Muslims will celebrate the start of Eid Al-Fitr on Saturday, the breaking of the fast, to note the end of the monthlong commemoration of Ramadan.

Since Earth Day is Saturday, April 22, consider picking up a piece of plastic and recycling it or picking up trash in your neighborhood, or planting a tree or vegetables that can be shared with those who need food. Then again, every day is Earth Day.
