AMHERST — Dr. Shirley Whitaker, a medical specialist, artist, community activist and creator of “Ashes to Ashes,” will describe her latest project Tote2Vote at the next Judy Brooks Conversation Series event, starting Monday at 7 p.m.

The Tote2Vote Project aims to help eliminate voter suppression by providing voters with food and drink when there are long voter lines, and education on how to overcome restrictions that might make it difficult to exercise one’s right to vote.

Manufacturer of the year

Amherst Brewing recently earned recognition as the 2022 Manufacturer of the Year Award for the 3rd Hampshire District. The award was made based on the company’s dedication to the sustainability and advancement of manufacturing in the state.

State Rep. Mindy Domb, D-Amherst, presented the award at the Fall Flight Night, which Amherst Brewing held at its University Drive location, joined byArtifact Cider Project and Atkins Farms Country Market.

Poetic Dialogue artwork damaged

Restoration of the metal sculpture featuring silhouettes of Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost in conversation was recently completed, though initially each figure was returned to the wrong stone on which they have traditionally been affixed.

Now, after being returned to their rightful places, the Frost piece has been removed again, at least temporarily, after being damaged by vandals sometime late on the evening of Oct. 6 or early on Oct. 7, when its rebar footings were snapped.Meeting
