George Grief of Amherst gave me some old menus from the Tower Restaurant and Chequers. How old were they? Coffee was 9 cents. The sorority special pizza at the Tower was $1.89 and included mushroom, meatball, Italian sausage and green pepper. The pizzas were 10 inches and cut into eight slices. Muffins were 19 cents and there were nine choices. A roast beef sub was 99 cents.
Meanwhile, the roast beef sub at Chequers was 95 cents, eclairs 35 cents and French fries 30 cents. A bagel with cream cheese was 25 cents at Chequers.
