AMHERST — Police have identified the person who died three-car crash on Route 116 on Friday as Carmen Henriquez, 36, of Springfield.
Henriquez was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at around 8:45 a.m. at the intersection of Route 116 and Sunderland Road, according to the Northwestern district attorney’s office.
Amherst Police, State Police troopers with the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS) and the detective unit assigned to the Northwestern district attorney’s office responded to the scene where they discovered that a vehicle being driven by Henriquez, traveling north, collided with two vehicles traveling south. The impact caused Henriquez’s vehicle to roll over on the roadway, according to the DA’s office.
The drivers of the other vehicles were taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed for three hours, reopening around 11:45 Friday morning. The crash remains under investigation.
