HADLEY — Patrons and employees at Hadley businesses are not being required by the town to wear face coverings as of Tuesday following a Board of Health decision to rescind its mask order. The rule for public indoor spaces has been in place since Aug. 22.

As part of the health board’s vote on Thursday, it extended the mask requirement in public schools until March 7. The state mask mandate for schools ended Monday.

After March 7, masks in school settings will only be mandatory on the buses, based on a state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education rule, and in nurses offices, because those are considered medical sites.

In a statement, the Board of Health reminds residents, visitors and those working in town that they can continue to wear masks by choice. In addition, people who are not fully vaccinated should continue to keep their noses and mouths covered in public indoor spaces.
