With so many empty storefronts in downtown Amherst, why do we need a new parking garage now? How does the existing parking garage factor in? Is it filled to capacity every day? Is that why we need another garage?
Or do we really need a new parking garage for the residents of the newly constructed downtown apartment buildings that are serving as de facto dorms? With more apartment buildings on the way, how much more of downtown Amherst will be sacrificed for parking?
