AMHERST — Three Hobart Lane residents were issued $300 tickets for violating the town’s noise and nuisance house bylaws after police spent more than an hour breaking up a party with hundreds of revelers late Friday night.
Officers responded to the party at Gilreath Manor Apartments at 11:30 p.m. following complaints about loud music in the area. At least two people under 21 were found in possession of alcohol while there, police said.
During the initial response, a can of Miller Lite beer was also thrown at officers.
Three 20-year old men, from Needham, Stoneham and Melrose, were given the tickets for the violations, police said.
The Hobart Lane party was the biggest one police dealt with during the weekend, along with a number of smaller parties where warnings were issued.
Also, at 3:52 a.m. Saturday on Allen Street, police took a report that two people were jumped and one of those assaulted went to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton for treatment.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
