Flora and fauna report: The lilacs have bloomed. The initial radish seeds I planted did nothing so I planted more. After the rain last week, all popped up.
The cardinals, squirrel and chipmunk have been in the yard and I wondered where the bunny and snake were — my perennial backyard fauna. The bunny appeared on Sunday. I usually notice the snake when I mow the lawn so it will be any day now.

Kathleen Teagno of Amherst sent me the news with sad regrets. The Garden Club of Amherst will not hold its plant sale on the Town Common. This is now the second year the sale has been canceled. However, she said they will be under the tent next year. At that time, the offerings should be enormous after two years of growth without trimming.

The town tax collector has a new box. I put my real estate check in a big new beige box to the right of the door at the north side of Town Hall. The little black one that was on the other side of the door is gone. They must be expecting a lot more checks.

Last week I mentioned looking forward to the Amherst Community Band concerts. Just a few days later, the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce newsletter listed the dates of the concerts. Take out your social calendars and pencil in June 25, July 17 and Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Sweetser Park. The concerts are free. Bring a chair or blanket. While many will be vaccinated by then, still be discreet and careful.
