AMHERST — A man who walked into an Amherst home on the night of Jan. 5, bothering a resident before departing, was arrested a short time later, police said.

Dennis Alan Vogel, Jr., 31, of Oak Bluffs, was arrested at 9:32 p.m. near the intersection of North East and Main streets on charges of breaking and entering a building during the nighttime to commit a felony, disturbing the peace, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest, police said.

Amherst Detective Lt. William Menard said Vogel allegedly entered the home of a North East Street resident that he didn’t know, without an invitation, accosted her, and then fled.
