defeat the GOP
I’m an environmentalist by profession, a progressive by nature, and a Democrat by necessity. All three of these self-descriptions say the same thing: If we are to survive as a democracy, we must defeat Trump and the Republicans in November and every subsequent election until they are reduced to an asterisk in history books.
The environmentalist in me sees the choice even more starkly: If we as a species are to have any chance at survival, the Republican Party must be soundly defeated at every level. Well before Trump announced for the presidency, a delegate to the Paris Climate Accords described the Republican Party as the biggest single obstacle to climate action in the world.
The electoral vote will be won in other states, not ours. It will be won in Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Arizona and Pennsylvania, and also in New Hampshire, Maine, Iowa and Nebraska. When you ask what you can do, please call, write or text voters in those places.
You can donate to organizations in those states working to register and turn out voters. You can contact friends and family in swing states where their votes could provide the critical margin to deliver their electoral votes to Joe Biden. You can work to protect the vote.
