Garden report: The autumn sedum is blooming. The morning glories still provide cheer and color. The marigolds took over the tomato patch since I planted the big size rather than the little ones. They provide a big bright splash of orange. The pansies are now compost.

Julie Sloan will lecture on the stained glass windows at St. Brigid’s Church, of which I am a parishioner. The free talk will be held Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. in the church. Wear masks. The pews are marked to keep social distance. Hand sanitizer is available.
The windows were made by Meyer and Company of Munich, Germany.
Sloan is a stained glass consultant who lives in North Adams. She wrote “Conservation of Stained Glass in America.”
The event is sponsored by the St. Brigid’s 150th Anniversary Committee.

The ABC (A Better Chance) Committee is suggesting your fingers do the walking Instead of participating in the annual Fall Foliage Cider Run/Walk, which won’t be held physically because of the pandemic, according to an email from Keith Nesbit, ABC board president.
For 50 years the event has supported the scholars, who attend Amherst Regional High School to further their education as well as the house in which they live.
Fingers can go online to donate at: www.myorganization.com/donate.
Mail checks, payable to Amherst ABC, to: Box 5000, Amherst, Mass 01002.
Thanks.
