Garden report: The crane bill geranium and columbine have bloomed.

I harvested my first radishes and put them in a salad with lettuce from the garden.

The cucumber seeds have finally germinated and will go out in a week.

The second batch of nasturtium seeds have germinated.

The morning glory volunteers are back. Many years ago, som one gave me a morning glory plant, and they have reseeded every year. I’m still waiting for the dill, which also self-sows every year.

The rabbit has reappeared along with a baby bunny. This is a first.

A bear has been in the neighborhood. A neighbor reported a feeder was bent and the seeds are gone.

Congratulations to the Amherst Regional High School Class of 2020. One suggestion — save the maroon lawns signs that congratulated you and cheered you. Bring them to your fifth, 10th, 20th reunions, etc. Years from now it will be a reminder of what happened and how you have moved on.

The Amherst Farmer’s Market will open this Saturday. Bring your masks. You will recognize me — I will be wearing glasses.

I was so sorry to learn of the death of Dr. Robert Cox, who was head of special collections and archives at UMass and wrote several books. I heard him speak at various groups and he was a wonderful speaker, knowledgeable, funny and well organized. He was very generous with his time to support groups, especially the Amherst Historical Society, which sent the news of his death.

The society has tapes of his talks.

Condolences to the family and friends of Hill Boss, who served as a selectmen in town and was active in politics and various groups. He was a history buff and was smart in many ways. He had a great sense of humor. He used to volunteer at the Three County Fair every year, which he said was such fun. And he said a perk was free admission.
