HADLEY — A program in which Hadley residents age 60 and older can work for the town to receive a discount of up to $500 on property taxes is seeking participants.

The Senior Tax Work-off Program, which gives seniors who meet eligibility guidelines the opportunity to work for Hadley, currently has five openings.

People earn $12 per hour and receive an abatement for up to 41.66 hours of service.

In addition to the age eligibility, only one tax credit per family per calendar year is allowed and any participant must be current with both property tax and water and sewer payments.

Applicants will be interviewed for jobs by the director of senior services or her designee.

For more information, contact the Hadley Council on Aging at 120 Russell St. or call Violet Suska, program coordinator, at 586-4023.
