HOLYOKE — An Amherst man was killed in a shooting Saturday night on Maple Street in Holyoke, according to the Hampden County district attorney’s office.

Andrew Musgrave, 31, was found at 285 Maple St., near a McDonald’s restaurant, around 11:39 p.m. after Holyoke police officers responded to the area for gunshots in the vicinity. Musgrave, who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound, was transported by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where he was pronounced dead, the district attorney’s office wrote on its website.

Musgrave’s death marks the fourth homicide in Holyoke this year.

Musgrave was a 2006 graduate of Amherst Regional High School.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni and Holyoke Police Chief Manny Febo expressed their sympathies to Musgrave’s family.

The incident remains under investigation by Holyoke Police, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden district attorney’s office and the Hampden district attorney’s office’s murder unit.
