AMHERST — The town is offering free admission at its pools Saturday and Sunday and will extend open swim hours to 8 p.m. during what is expected to be a hot and humid weekend.
At Mill River Recreation Area, located on Montague Road in North Amherst, the adult lap swim will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with an open swim from 1 to 8 p.m.
At War Memorial Pool at Community Field on Mattoon Street in the town center, adult lap and open swim will run from 11 a.m to noon, and the open swim runs from noon to 8 p.m.
During open swim, children under 12 must be accompanied by a person 16 years of age or older.
Town buildings that will be open with air conditioning include the Jones Library, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; the Munson Library, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the North Amherst Library, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and the Amherst Police Department Community Room, both Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
