Fauna report: I saw a tremendous gaggle of geese last week. They were incredibly loud. But it was so good to see them coming north.
I was driving south on West Street just past the bridge when a fawn darted across the road. That was a surprise.
The chipmunk is back. I don’t know where it spent the winter, but it (I don’t know the gender) appeared on my patio checking the crumbs I leave for the birds. The cardinal comes daily, as well as other feathered friends.

Janet Van Blerkom of Amherst sent me good news. Her daughter, Dr. Suzanne Van Blerkom Dawid, will be inaugurated as the first Andrew B. Briskin Research Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan Medical School on April. “Suzy earned her PhD and MD at Washington University and has been a member of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Faculty at the University of Michigan Medical School since 2008. I’m so proud of all of her accomplishments! Plus she is also very busy raising three children!,” according to her email.

Alana Victor of Amherst is another proud mother. Her daughter, Pamela, will perform in the Happiness Festival sponsored by Happy Valley Comedy on March 30, from 1-10 p.m., at the Happy Valley Comedy Club, 1 Mill Lane Hadley. Tickets online at: wwwhappiervalley.com.

Wendy Kohler of Amherst sent an email about the Gospel Choir Concert to benefit A Better Chance. The performance, which features area choral groups, is April 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church. There is a reception from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. to meet the scholars and resident directors. A $20 donation is requested, but the concert is free.
ABC will celebrate its 50th anniversary in June. Stay tuned for details. Wendy has been involved with the program for decades and heads the board.
