It’s officially spring. While we were bemoaning the snow and cold, the plants were biding their time and getting ready for their appearance. Since the snow receded, I went outside and found daffodil shoots several inches high, and one has a bud. The flowers are right next to the foundation that faces south. What a wonderful surprise. Shoots are poking through the ground at the Munson Memorial Library as well.

Condolences to the family and friends of Bill Venman, who died last week. He was very active in the community. He and his late wife, Sally, founded the VLO decades ago, bringing countless hours of pleasure and fun with the Gilbert and Sullivan performances. He was a founding father of the Amherst Railway Society and began the train show that now runs two days at the Eastern States Exposition. He was also a performer with the Amherst Brass group and Community Band.
