AMHERST — It’s mud season in the Pioneer Valley, but the mud usually stays on the roads.
On last Sunday afternoon, though, the owner of a 2009 Nissan Murano found a significant amount of mud, as well as sticks and leaves, placed inside the vehicle parked at an Amherst complex, causing unspecified damage, according to police.
Officers were called to Watson Farms at 693 Main St. where the SUV’s owner discovered large piles of mud and other debris on the seats and the floors, and in the side panels, said Amherst Police Detective Yvonne Feliciano.
A 10-year-old girl was determined to be responsible for the vandalism, which she told officers she did in retaliation for people who had earlier cursed at her from the vehicle.
Feliciano said the girl’s family and the victim will work out restitution, and no charges are expected to be filed and no additional police involvement will be needed.
