Congratulations to the cast, crew, staff and families who put on “Tuck Everlasting ” last week at Amherst Regional High School. It was splendid. The set deserves a special mention.

Five of the students involved had Orchard Valley (my neighborhood) connections.

The Amherst Woman’s Club, of which I am a member, is holding its annual Flower Show March 23 from 12-4 p.m. at the clubhouse on Triangle Street. Tickets are $5, with proceeds used to fund our student scholarships and charitable donations. The event includes refreshments and a door prize.

I was stalked at a local supermarket. The offender was a metal column on wheels with a blue light that didn’t pertain to the Kmart blue light special.

It is creepy to turn around and see this device and it keeps moving right behind you. I’m going to avoid that store for a while and hope the machine is delegated to a back room.

Congratulations to the Jones Library on its 100th birthday. The yearlong festivities begin March 21. Cynthia Harbeson, special collections curator, sent me an email about the event that includes displays, story time, oral history opportunity and cake at 6 p.m. It’s free.

Check the web site for details.

Like everyone else, I received a late night call about a water pressure problem in town. The voice told me to conserve water. Unfortunately, the dishwasher was running at the time. Another call came later telling me everything was back on line.

The call raised a good point about being informed of emergencies. We all can get emergency alerts. Brianna Sunryd, the town’s communications manager, sent the following directions:

■Click the small orange Civic Ready icon at the bottom of any web page at www.amherstma.gov

■Visit our preparedness page www.amherstma.gov/prepare to learn more and sign up for alerts;

■Text “Join Amherst” to 30890 from the cell phone you would like to receive alerts to;

■ Reach out to communications manager (me) who can help community members manually to the system if needed.

Being informed if we have a major emergency is critical.
