AMHERST — A 38-year-old Easthampton man cutting a tree in Amherst Tuesday morning died from injuries he suffered when a part of the tree struck him, according to the Northwestern district attorney’s office.
The man was transported from the location of the incident on Flat Hills Road, in the Cushman section of Amherst, to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton around 9 a.m., Mary Carey, spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office, said.
The man’s identity was not available as of press time.
Amherst Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Northwestern district attorney’s office responded to the scene. No foul play is suspected, Carey said.
A compliance officer from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration responded to the scene at the request of police and will complete an investigation.
