Do I know how Jim Pistrang will do as a member of Town Council? Not really. Like all members who will be elected, none have performed this exact role before.
However, what I do know is what type of person Jim is. I have experienced him in his role as Ultimate Frisbee Coach with my children. In addition, we have worked as team members together with Amherst Community Theater. I have seen Jim interact with people of all ages. He treats them all with dignity and respect. He has been committed to this town and bettering it for over 30 years.
For over 20 years Jim and his wife Barbara have been the backbone of Amherst Community Theater. I have three children, two of which spent over five years participating with this organization. The lessons my two daughters learned there were priceless and Jim Pistrang as Production Stage Manager, was one of their primary role models. As one of the Costumers for over 10 years, I interacted with Jim regularly. He is professional, fair, and hardworking. He is a clear communicator, good listener, and well organized. And he is fun! Jim has an amazing resume, but that’s not why I support him. To me, character and integrity matters most. And Jim has those in spades.
I think my 21 year old daughter said it best when I asked her if she was voting for Jim Pistrang for Town Council, she said, “I’d vote for Jim no matter what he was running for!”
