Finds proposed buildings out of scale

When I saw the rendering of the proposed new mixed-use buildings for Amherst, I checked my calendar to be sure it wasn’t April Fools’ Day. Alas, it wasn’t.

The fact that the Amherst Business Improvement District executive is pleased with the project gives a new meaning to myopia. Perhaps, she grew up in a big city and was used to buildings of such scale. But this is “Amherst.” And that means it should be, and should always be, “small town.”

That’s not synonymous with “anti-growth,” but it does mean that things should be kept in proportion and a style consistent with what most want Amherst to be — which obviously differs from what developers want it to be, with the Amherst BID not being far behind. Shame on you
