Historic North Hall Arts Festival presents ‘Shakespeare’s Women’

This year’s season of the Historic North Hall Arts Festival presents “Shakespeare’s Women,” a one-woman performance by Ellen Barry. The performance will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 24. It is a celebration of the women in Shakespeare’s works, who rank among the most memorable of his characters, despite being underrepresented. A seasoned actress, Barry has played over a hundred roles, and she received the Off-Off-Broadway Award for excellence for her performance in Henrik Ibsen’s “John Gabriel Borkman.”

Hilltown Youth Performing Arts Program offers summer activities

This summer, the Performing Arts Program will offer its Youth Theatre Summer Workshop from July 16-August 8, and a weeklong pre-workshop called Recovery Theatre from July 9-July 13. Recovery Theatre precedes the Youth Theatre Summer Workshop and is aimed at helping young people with behavioral or mental health challenges pursue their performing arts aspirations. The Summer Workshop — located in the Hawlemont School in Charlemont — encourages children ages 10-18 to try their hand at acting, set designing and making music and art.

Kneeland. According to the organizers, “The selected works relate to each other by responding to form, content and emotion … Images are paired to elicit echoes of memories and dreams, while celebrating the natural beauty of our region.” The opening reception will take place on Friday, July 13, from 5-8 p.m.
