Carolyn Peelle of Amherst sent a card of the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. She wrote it took 22 hours to get there. However, she had a wonderful visit with her daughter, Juliet, and her family.

Nina Scott of Amherst sent a card from Hamburg, Germany, her home town, where she visited family and friends. She wrote that the weather was glorious and the city was beautiful.
She said it’s a shame that tourists bypass Hamburg, since it is so lovely.

A friend said she didn’t send a card from Italy since postage would cost $3. For travelers, you can bring back a postcard and hand deliver it. This way I get a card and you save money. It still counts for the contest. Thanks.

The Community Fair is back for a longer run. It has already started by the time you get the paper. It continues this weekend. Come out and see all your friends now that the weather is great.

Condolences to the family and friends of Ron Bohonowicz, who died too young. He served first as facilities director for the schools and then the town. I would often see him in town buildings, looking at everything, talking to staff. He was always kind and gracious and very knowledgeable and professional in his work.

ARHS student Lourdes Jean-Louis won a scholarship with her essay on social justice that will be presented at the annual Sojourner Truth celebration May 27 beginning at noon at the statue in Florence, according to Reynolds Winslow of Amherst via email. He said Dr. Trevor Baptiste will be the keynote speaker. The Amherst Area Gospel Choir will perform. The event is free and open to the public.
