HADLEY — A longtime auto body repair shop located in downtown Amherst may move to Route 9 in Hadley.

Marshall Steinbeck Collision, which has been at 53 South Prospect St. in a residential neighborhood near Amherst College dormitories, could build a new site in the Home Depot plaza, based on a presentation made to the Planning Board earlier this month.

Thomas Reidy, an attorney with Bacon Wilson PC of Amherst, told planners the company is looking at the vacant site at 328 Russell St.

The 4.7-acre parcel is connected to the Home Depot plaza, though wetlands may necessitate that it have its own entrance from Route 9.

The issue of access and the impact on traffic are among the issues the Planning Board will address if the project moves forward.

Meantime, a woodworking shop that makes jewelry organizers will be allowed to locate at 79 River Drive, the previous site of Hadley Propeller.

Kellsie Rees, who runs the South Hadley-based The Knotted Wood that has two employees, said it will just be a place for work and not for sales.

“It’s a manufacturing shop for everything I sell online,” Rees said. He said her lease with property owner Andre LaFlamme begins June 1.

The Planning Board waived site plan review for the reuse, but Rees will have to return to get permission for installation of a sign.

Opening last Sunday at Hampshire Mall is a Korean restaurant known as Kkuljaem Korean Kitchen. The Select Board gave owner Paul Aust of Wilbraham a common victualler’s license for the Cafe Square restaurant.
