Suggests political party of charter opponents

We have a problem (and a solution) connected with the proposed town charter for Amherst.

Opponents of the charter should immediately form a political party composed of charter opponents. Members will run for the new Town Council if the charter passes. They will continue to express their opposition to the charter and its machinations if they are elected.

Issues that come up before the Town Council will be supported or opposed by the members of the new party based on their present charter opposition. The political party will immediately start soliciting contributions with much fanfare (before the charter vote.)

If nothing else, forming a such a political party that solicits political contributions will demonstrate one of the many “problems” or “benefits” the charter will create. The new party doesn’t have to be entirely “representative.” Ten or 20 or 30 folks with some money could get it started.

Does anybody agree? Who wants to be chairman of the new party?
