It is time for fresh thinking on the Jones Library board. Specifically, on March 27, it is time to elect new trustees with proven expertise in the financial management that the library needs now to navigate its current challenges successfully.
Library trustee candidate Sigurd Nilsen is a former economist with the Government Accountability Office. His responsibilities included philanthropy and foundations issues and strategic planning. Since moving to Amherst nine years ago, Sig’s civic involvement has included serving in Town Meeting (Precinct 8), organizing for Solarize Amherst and working to preserve our historic Jones Library.
Sig Nilsen is committed to bringing sound financial management to the decisions facing the Jones Library. For Sig, this includes exercising good stewardship in the overall maintenance of the Jones Library and of the North Amherst and Munson Memorial branches, and integrating the branches in all library planning.
This kind of grounded, practical, comprehensive approach is exactly what Amherst’s beloved public libraries, and Amherst’s thousands of public library patrons, need now.
Please join me in voting for Sigurd Nilsen for library trustee on March 27.
