Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all our Irish friends and neighbors. Holyoke has a major parade, one of the largest in the country. If you can’t go, you can see it on television.

It’s official — spring begins March 20.

Congratulations and a big thank you to the cast and crew of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” presented last week at Amherst Regional High School.

I had never seen the show or the movie so it was a treat, very funny and clever. Some guest spellers were selected from the audience, which was a wonderful addition.

Also thanks to the Sunderland Animal Hospital for sponsoring the bee. “They take care of your pets so you don’t have to,” that was the tag line in the show.

Except for some dance numbers, the actors were able to wear their regular clothes.

Nancy and Carlton Brose of Amherst sent a postcard that read “got news? Newseum.”

It is from the world’s most interactive museum in Washington, D.C. The card notes ,” The people, places and events from five centuries of news history meet up-to-the second technology.”

They wrote it is beautifully constructed, one- of -a -kind and dazzles and overwhelms.
