My pocket calendar says fall begins Sept. 22, Friday. Now we can pick apples, rake leaves and carve pumpkins. However, you could have purchased Halloween candy before Labor Day. I got a chuckle out of a cartoon, printed in August, where a father and son go shopping and see the candy out so early. While they bemoan the fact, they decide to buy the candy since it is there. When they get home, the wife is putting up Christmas decorations.

Nancy and Carlton Brose of Amherst sent a postcard of the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia. They visited family in Norfolk after seeing the eclipse in South Carolina. On the way back they stopped in Washington, D.C., and visited the National Gallery of Art.
