Garden report: When I when out to pick a tomato I knew would be ready, I found it half-eaten on the patio. Some critter is enjoying the bounty of my work and doesn’t leave a thank you note. I am annoyed. However, I do have more tomatoes.
The lisianthus have bloomed and are lovely.

It pays to clean the garage. I found two quarters in a bag with some tennis balls.

Save the date: the South Amherst Congregational Church will hold its annual chicken barbecue Aug. 22 on the South Amherst Common, known as Fiddler’s Green. The dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $12. Reservations are highly recommended. Call the church at 253-2977 or email: office@amherstsouthchurch.org.
The Amherst Community Band will perform Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. on the South Amherst Common so it makes for a lovely evening. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for the concert, which is free but donations are accepted.
It always turns a out to be one of those Norman Rockwell paintings with kids, dogs, green lawn, blue sky and musicians in bright red shirts.

I reluctantly set up a Facebook account in order to sell the stuff in the garage. My hesitation is well-placed. When I opened my page there were all these photos of people I know, including my college roommate. I can see spending too much time looking through all those photos so will limit my exposure. You don’t have to ask to be my friend; you probably are, no permission needed.
