AMHERST — The food in the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s dining halls has been named best in the country by the Princeton Review for the second year in a row, according to a statement.

University Chefs made an appearance on the “Today” show Tuesday.

“UMass Dining’s outstanding food helps make our campus a great place to live, study and work,” said Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy in the statement. “We’re very proud of our dining services staff and all they do. They’ve always been No. 1 to us.”

The ranking was based on student surveys, in addition to input from university administrators from across the country, from the Princeton Review advisory board and from visits by Princeton Review staff to different colleges.

UMass Amherst has made efforts to make campus food more local, sustainable and nutritious, and it boasts the largest dining service in the country, according to the statement, serving 45,000 meals each day.

UMass Dining has been ranked in the top 10 by the Princeton Review since 2012.
