An 18-year-old woman will be summoned to court on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop June 25 at 2:11 a.m. on South Pleasant Street, police said.

Keisha M. Kennedy, 38, of Middle Street, Hadley, was arrested June 18 at 4:11 p.m. on East Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, police said.

LARCENY

5:15 p.m. – Management at a downtown business reported a customer refused to pay for service on his computer. Police spoke to the customer, who agreed to reimburse the store or return the computer.

10:21 p.m. – Police issued a verbal warning to West Street residents playing loud music and talking loudly.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

11:45 a.m. – A dog bite on Pondview Drive that occurred June 10 is being investigated by the animal welfare officer.

 

TUESDAY, JUNE 20

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

1:20 p.m. – Two women who swam to the dam at Puffer’s Pond fled the area before police got there.

DISTURBANCES

6:53 p.m. – A man yelling at passing vehicles on College Street was calmed down by police.

LARCENY

2:28 p.m. – A woman reported fraudulent charges totaling $4,265 made to her account, with the money withdrawn in Texas.

9:19 p.m. – Police took a report that a resident was scammed out of $38,000 after entering an online dating relationship with a man pretending to be a member of the U.S. Navy. The relationship ended when a friend of the man told the woman her boyfriend died. Police are investigating.

8:38 p.m. – Police issued a verbal warning to people holding a loud pool party on Puffer’s Circle.

TRAFFIC

8:21 a.m. – Police issued a warning to a motorcycle operator who had his 5-year-old daughter sitting in front of him. He was advised that it was unsafe to travel in this manner.

 

FRIDAY, JUNE 23

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

1:15 p.m. – A man reported he was uncomfortable with a protester standing at the intersection of Amity and South Pleasant streets with a sign stating “kill feminism.”

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

8:38 a.m. – Police advised several homeless individuals panhandling on North Pleasant Street that sleeping in the parking garage will no longer be allowed. A man found asleep in the garage was awoken and told that he can no longer spend the night there.

11:49 a.m. – A man loitering in the West Cemetery was told to remove his belongings.

VANDALISM

8:18 a.m. – Glass in the doorway to Delivery Express on Fearing Street was shattered sometime overnight. No entry was made to the building.

BREAK-INS

5:57 p.m. – An unlocked apartment on Amity Street was reported entered. A bicycle, DVDs, briefcase, alcohol, record player and detergent were stolen, according to police.

NOISE COMPLAINTS

11:13 p.m. – Police issued a verbal warning to North Pleasant Street residents playing loud music and being loud while playing drinking games.

 

SATURDAY, JUNE 24

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

8:23 p.m. – A man sleeping in the Boltwood parking garage complained to police that he was assaulted by a driver who intentionally slammed a door to wake him up.

BREAK-INS

1:16 p.m. – A Carriage Lane resident returned home after several weeks away and discovered a television set, a TV stand, a Nintendo Cube gaming system and games, a bath towel, a fan and a lamp all stolen following a break-in. Police are investigating.

8:06 p.m. – Police issued a verbal warning to North Pleasant Street residents playing loud music.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

5:09 a.m. – A dog owner whose dog was barking loudly on McClellan Street told police she will apologize to her neighbor.

 

SUNDAY, JUNE 25

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

1:24 a.m. – Two men carrying three street signs on Kellogg Avenue agreed to drop them and allow the Department of Public Works to retrieve the signs.

9:41 a.m. – A package was taken from an East Pleasant Street mailbox and opened, with its contents possibly stolen. Other mailboxes were also opened, though mail appeared to remain intact.

11:15 a.m. – A possibly suicidal woman pacing back and forth on the dam at Puffer’s Pond was sitting on the dam when police got there. She was advised to get off the dam for her safety.

12:45 p.m. – Police took a report from a woman who picked up a man and woman hitchhiking at the UMass campus and brought them to Cushman village, where they told her they intended to hop onto freight trains to continue their journey. Police were unable to locate the suspicious couple.

DISTURBANCES

9:02 p.m. – People being belligerent and loud at the Amherst Motel told police they were mourning a loved one. They were advised to keep calm.

LARCENY

3:22 p.m. – A bicycle was reported stolen from a PVTA bus on North Pleasant Street.

ASSAULTS

2:19 a.m. – A person came to the police station to report being assaulted by two people on North Pleasant Street. Police are investigating.

NOISE COMPLAINTS

7:04 a.m. – Police issued a verbal warning to people using a loudspeaker on West Street during a prayer service marking the conclusion of Ramadan.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

3:38 p.m. –  A rabid skunk in a Blue Hills Road yard was destroyed by police.
