Police investigate 2 break-ins at Southpoint Apartments in Amherst

AMHERST — Amherst Police are investigating break-ins reported at two residences at Southpoint Apartments, 266 East Hadley Road, over the weekend, including one that was in progress when tenants returned home Sunday evening.

At 8:41 p.m. Sunday, residents called police after discovering a back door pried open and two men inside stealing items, said Detective Gregory Wise. Among items the men fled with were a television set, a MacBook Pro and a guitar. The men got into what was described as a four-door sedan, possibly black, that has not been located, Wise said.

At 10:54 p.m. Friday, Southpoint residents reported leaving for a few minutes and returning to find that someone got in through a window and stole a television and X-box game console and went through several drawers.

Wise said it isn’t know if the incidents are connected.
