Garden report: the peonies have blossomed. They are stunning. I made more geranium cuttings and put them in pots. The cucumber starts have been planted.

Dave Machowski, , the new Amherst Farmer’s Market Manager, corrected me. He was the manager for 14 years, not six as I noted last week. I used the information from an email sent to market people.

I saw Estella Olevsky , of Amherst, at the market as well. Estella, who is a pianist, is a director of the Mohawk Trails Concerts in Charlemont. She told me the season begins July 1. They will do fewer Friday concerts. She is performing July 8 and 15. You can get tickets on line.

I received a very interesting letter from DPW saying that a salamander had entered an inlet at the Atkins Water Treatment Plant. I had two thoughts, the salamander wanted some good water to drink or it made a wrong turn from the tunnel used to safely get it across the road. It caused a problem with the chlorine level. I checked the date and I was out of the country then. I missed the incident.
