BELCHERTOWN — Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects authorities say were involved in robbing two convenience stores over the weekend, including an armed robbery Sunday night.
Both incidents involved stores on Federal Street.
Officers responded to Dwight Station Mini Mart, 1066 Federal St. shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, where a dark-skinned male, who wore a mask, flannel shirt and jeans, showed the clerk a black gun and demanded cash from the register, Belchertown Police reported on its Facebook page.
Authorities said a K-9 unit determined the suspect likely fled the area in a vehicle that was waiting nearby.
A robbery was also reported Saturday morning.
Police said they received a call around 6 a.m. regarding a past break-in at the Sunoco Station at 122 Federal St.
Upon arrival, Belchertown Police investigators as well as the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section learned that the power and internet cables to the building had been cut by the suspects prior to entering, police said.
Investigators were able to review surveillance video from the store. Police said the three darker skinned males entered the business while masked and gloved. One appeared to be wearing a grayish sweatshirt with a hood while another suspect was wearing a backpack that contained an acetylene torch.
The torch was used to cut a large hole in the ATM machine and an undisclosed amount of money was stolen, according to police.
Anyone with information about either incident or the suspects in both cases should contact the Belchertown Police Detective Bureau at 413-323-6685.
