AMHERST
Matthew P. DuPont, 38, of West Pomeroy Lane, was arrested Nov. 12 at 10:23 p.m. on South Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger and failure to use care in passing after the vehicle he was driving struck a vehicle attempting to make a turn, police said.
A 22-year-old Amherst resident will be summoned to court on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to yield at an intersection following a traffic stop on West Street Nov. 12 at 8:10 p.m., police said.
Kurt F. Geryk, 51, of 32 Applewood Lane, was arrested at 9:06 a.m. Friday at St. Brigid’s Church, 132 North Pleasant St., on charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing, police said.
Geryk was arrested after allegedly kicking at the front door of the locked church and demanding to be let in, and then refusing to calm down once inside the building, police said.
A 46-year-old man will be summoned to court on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license following a traffic stop on Amity Street Nov. 9 at 2:07 p.m., police said.
Joshua T. MacDonald, 25, of Gulf Road, Pelham, was arrested Nov. 8 at 1:39 p.m. at Colonial Village on a warrant, police said.

3:37 p.m. – Two people hanging out in a North East Street apartment whose tenant was evicted were advised they couldn’t stay there. Dogs left behind by the resident were turned over to the care of the animal welfare officer.
3:48 p.m. – Police took a report of a boy harassing a girl in a South Amherst neighborhood.

3:49 p.m. – A man who attempted to leave the Big Y Supermarket on University Drive without paying for $30 in merchandise was issued a trespass notice.

1:56 p.m. – A dog bite at Wentworth Conservation Area is being investigated.
MOTOR VEHICLE
ACCIDENTS
8:31 a.m. – A vehicle rolled over on North Pleasant Street in North Amherst after being struck by another vehicle, police said.
No injuries were reported, but both vehicles were towed, according to police.
2:46 p.m. – A bicyclist who was struck while crossing East Pleasant Street near Cherry Lane was conscious and alert when police got there, police said.
The bicyclist was transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton as a precaution, police said.
No citations were issued to the driver.
5:50 p.m. – A head-on collision between two vehicles occurred at the intersection of Amity Street and University Drive, police said.
An ambulance responded to evaluate the people in the vehicles, according to police.

11:31 p.m. – An odd smell coming from a residence at Townehouse Apartments was determined to be caused by a plastic spoon that melted in a dishwasher.

6:42 p.m. – A Stony Hill Road resident reported someone knocked over a street number sign set up in her yard.

10:25 p.m. – A homeless man found on North Pleasant Street was provided a courtesy escort to the Craig’s Place homeless shelter.
MOTOR VEHICLE
ACCIDENTS
4:48 a.m. – A vehicle went off Sunderland Road after avoiding hitting a deer and struck a utility pole, police said.
The driver was bleeding from his head, but didn’t require medical attention, and the pole was still intact, according to police.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 9
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
3:26 p.m. – A second- grader who refused to get on a bus at Wildwood School walked away from the school, but was located at her home a short time later. Police determined the girl didn’t want to board the bus out of fear of another student.
DISTURBANCES
1:39 a.m. – Two customers arguing in a downtown restaurant were separated and sent on their way.
8:55 a.m. – Police kept the peace between South Amherst neighbors who got into an argument in which one woman pulled the other woman’s hair and threw her to the ground.
4:08 p.m. – A man who caused a scene at the Not Bread Alone soup kitchen, and got into arguments with other guests over the results of the presidential election, was issued a trespass notice.
4:36 p.m. – Police took a report that a woman walking a loose dog made threatening statements toward another woman at a North Amherst location.
FIGHTS
1:03 a.m. – An argument over politics between people at the bus stop near the Fine Arts Center ended when police got there. The people were advised not to talk to each other again as they waited for the bus to come.
THURSDAY, NOV. 10
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
11:28 a.m. – A tent pitched on the grounds of either the Jones Library or the Amherst History Museum was not located.
11:38 a.m. – Police were notified about a man who has knocked on doors at Rolling Green Apartments asking to use bathrooms and watch television. Management advised tenants not to let the man in.

10:58 a.m. – Police assisted a Wentworth Manor Drive resident involved in a dispute with a neighbor over tree clearing for installation of a fence.
DISTURBANCES
1:27 a.m. – Police responded to a North Amherst home where a woman was upset when her son returned home intoxicated and began using the kitchen to make eggs, rather than immediately going to bed.
VANDALISM
8:45 a.m. – Four tires on a vehicle parked at Puffton Village were slashed sometime overnight, causing about $500 worth of damage.

10:25 p.m. – Mill Valley Estates residents running inside their apartment and bothering neighbors checked out OK.
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
10:05 a.m. – Police were notified about loose and aggressive dogs that left a Grantwood Drive home and entered a Jasou Court yard. The owner of the dogs was warned not to let the pets run loose.

6:27 a.m. and 6:37 a.m. – Police checked for speeding vehicles on Montague Road and Middle Street.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
12:58 p.m. – A man yelling obscenities from a vehicle parked on Hall Drive was not located by police.
9:15 p.m. – Police took a report of a man being called names while walking through downtown Amherst. He was advised about how to get a restraining order against the person using the vulgarities targeting him.
DISTURBANCES
12:19 a.m. – Two patrons at a downtown bar who allegedly assaulted an employee were issued trespass notices.
4 p.m. – A man pestering a woman on a PVTA bus on West Street was removed.
11:48 p.m. – Several college-age people loitering in the driveway and on the lawn of a Northampton Road residence were gone when police got there.
VANDALISM
8:03 a.m. – The Enos Cookn Memorial Fountain at Sweetser Park was reported damaged by vandals.

1:46 p.m. – An assault was reported at the Kendrick Place apartment building. Police are investigating.

12:48 a.m. and 10:10 p.m. – Police issued verbal warnings to Salem Place and The Boulders residents holding loud parties.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
1:42 a.m. – A man attempting to urinate at the corner of North Pleasant and Amity streets was warned about his activity and sent on his way.

3:09 a.m. – People who kicked in a door to a Colonial Village home and demanded the residents return a cellphone fled when they realized they were at the wrong home.

12:11 a.m. – Police issued a verbal warning to people playing loud music at an East Pleasant Street home.
1:02 a.m. – A loud party with a bonfire was cleared out from Edgehill Place.
1:59 a.m. – People talking loudly while playing videogames at an Amity Street home were issued a verbal warning by police.
9:20 p.m. – Police issued a verbal warning to Cowls Road residents who had a live band playing in the basement.
10:55 p.m. – About 100 party-goers were cleared out from a Blackberry Lane home.

2:20 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. – A cow that twice got loose on South East Street was returned to its pen.
2:34 p.m. – Police assisted people getting two goats back into a field on Meadow Street.
SUNDAY, NOV. 13
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
9:40 p.m. – A man who entered the Iota Gamma Upsilon sorority on North Pleasant Street and asked to use a bathroom fled when he was confronted by a resident. Police located him and advised him to stay out of UMass buildings.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
12:50 a.m. – Police assisted a woman locate her teen daughter after the mother went to a Northampton restaurant to pick the teenager up and discovered that instead her daughter was at an Amherst home, where she intended to spend the night.
DISTURBANCES
12:41 a.m. – A disturbance involving people who were not welcome at a party on Harvard Avenue was reported to police. Allegations that those who were denied entry waved handguns was determined to not be credible. At 1:39 a.m,. police returned to the home to break up a fight on lawn that began when refused to leave party.
12:42 a.m. – Police responded to Hobart Lane where residents confronted security officials by grabbing a flashlight. They were warned to show more respect for those trying to keep peace on the street.

1:52 a.m. – Police issued a verbal warning to Presidential Apartments residents playing loud music.

2:24 a.m. – Amherst police assisted UMass police with locating suspects involved in an assault at the corner of Eastman Lane and North Pleasant Street.
