Scott Harvey-Arnold of Amherst Regional High School has been named a semi-finalist in the 2017 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards.
Other ARHS students were named commended students. Although they will not continue on in the competition, they placed among the top five percent of more than 1.6 million students who participated.
They are: Mercer Blanchard, Abigail Helzer, Maxwell Hopley, Samantha Klein, Amy-Mei Lynch, Emma Mack, Delia McHale, Maria Mountziaris, Patrick O’Connell, Jonah Weinbaum, Nathaniel Weinberg.
Abigail Illingsworth has begun her veterinary studies at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. She was accepted by Tufts during her sophomore year at the University of Massachusetts and graduated after her junior year there.
Sage S. Bailin has enrolled at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Bailin is a graduate of Amherst Regional High School and is the son of Paul Bailin and Brigitta Sebesta of Amherst.
