All lecture/performances presented this fall by the Hampshire Music Club will be held Wednesdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Great Room at the Northampton Senior Center, 67 Conz St. in Northampton.
Here’s the lineup:
Sept. 28: “Spiritually Inclined” — David Kidwell, minister of music at Edward’s Church in Northampton, plays organ.
Oct. 5: “French Melodie and La Belle Epoque” — soprano Mary Hubbell of Smith College will deliver songs from her studies of France’s Belle Epoque (1885-1917).
Oct. 12: “Women Composers, Then and Now” — Monica Jakuc Leverett presents works by women composers, and performs on her toy piano.
Oct. 19: “Organs in the Time of Bach” — Thomas Pousont, director of music at Brick Church at the Deerfield Academy, will showcase the organ-plying styles of J. S. Bach.
Oct. 26: “Evolution of Brass Instruments” — Jean Jeffries, a horn instructor at Mount Holyoke College, will take listeners through the history of the instrument, from ones created for hunting purposes to the evolution of orchestral horns.
