AMHERST
Dylon X. Sleis, 22, of Whately, was arrested June 6 at 9:32 p.m on Boltwood Walk on charges of resisting arrest and violating the town’s open container bylaw, police said.
Yeshaq A. Warren, 31, of Sand Hill Road, was arrested June 6 at 5:41 p.m. on North Pleasant Street on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after he struck another man in the neck with a Snapple bottle, police said.
Youssef Elghorfi, 26, of Leverett, Massachusetts, was arrested at about 5:40 p.m. June 10 on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and operation of a motor vehicle to endanger. A caller reported at about 5:40 p.m. Friday that Elghorfi drove his gray 2002 Hyundai Sonata in front of her house on Whitney Street and, as he got out, told her he was too intoxicated to drive. He then asked her for cigarettes, police said. When police arrived, police said he displayed indicators of impairment.
Daniel Charles Brown, 53, of 138 Sunderland Road, received a summons at about 7:30 p.m. June 10 for having an open container of alcohol. Brown was reported for a disturbance while waving a sign at customers leaving the Subway at 4 Main St., police said.
Katelynn Marie Demers, 26, of Greenfield, was arrested at about 1:50 a.m. June 11 on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, operation of a motor vehicle to endanger and speeding. An officer stopped Demers’ blue 2014 Chevy Cruze for speeding on Sunderland Road. The officer then realized Demers was impaired.
Alicia Bunt, 31, of Northampton, received a summons at about 1:45 a.m. June 12 for driving without an inspection sticker and unlicensed operation of a vehicle. Police stopped Bunt for driving without an inspection sticker near the post office on University Drive, police said. Bunt fell out of her seat onto the ground but declined medical attention. She was then found to have an expired driver’s license.

1:17 a.m. – A man who looked into windows of an apartment at The Boulders was not located by police.

3:55 p.m. – An Amherst resident trying to get her vacuum cleaner back from her former boyfriend was advised to go to civil court to settle the matter.

10:54 a.m. – A large rock was thrown through the window of a Colonial Village residence. No suspects have been identified.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
9:05 p.m. – Police issued a verbal warning to the operator of loud machinery on West Pomeroy Lane. The contractor told police the work would stop in 15 minutes.
10:14 p.m. – A verbal warning was issued by police to people holding a loud party at Kappa Sigma on North Pleasant Street. Guests agreed to go inside for the rest of the night.

9:48 a.m. – New England Central Railroad officials were notified that a tree came down across the railroad tracks on a section between where they cross Pine Street and Pulpit Hill Road.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
3:52 a.m. – People shooting off fireworks near Pulpit Hill Road, possibly on the Cherry Hill Golf Course, were not located by police.
2:50 p.m. – A FitBit device that fell off one woman as she left the CVS Pharmacy on North Pleasant Street was retrieved by a second woman, who fled with it. Police are investigating the incident.
11:58 p.m. – A Belchertown Road resident reported hearing an intruder snoring in her bedroom. Police responded and determined that no one had gotten into the home and that the sound was likely coming from the home creaking.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
5 p.m. – An Amherst resident reported a scam in which someone from Italy sent him a $2,000 check and wanted him to deposit it at a bank, which he refused to do.
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
11:17 a.m. – Two women reported being chased off a trail at the Notch by a bear. Police assisted the women, who made it out safely from the woods onto Bay Road, and were then given a courtesy escort back to their vehicle at the Notch Visitors Center. Police didn’t encounter the bear.
4:34 p.m. – A large pig covered in mud that got loose from Simple Gifts Farm and entered a Rolling Ridge Road yard was returned to its field.

1:01 a.m. – Three homeless people sleeping on the decks of the Jones Library and Amherst History Museum were awoken and sent on their way.

12:26 a.m. – Police issued a verbal warning to Brandywine Apartments residents laughing while watching a loud television.
FRIDAY, JUNE 10
LARCENY
Staff from the Village Park Apartments reported at about 11 a.m. Friday that maintenance staff was chasing someone seen stealing bikes. Upon police arrival, the man told police the bikes belonged to a friend of his, police said. The bikes were seized until ownership could be determined, and the man was sent on his way.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
Police responded at about 10:50 p.m. Friday to a noise complaint against a group of homeless individuals staying near the garden at the First Congregational Church. By the time police arrived, the group had asked the man causing most of the noise to leave, police said. Police heard no noise upon arrival.
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
A caller said she believed a rabbit that had been in her yard for an hour by the time she called at about 5:10 p.m. Friday was injured. Police found the rabbit eating grass and in good health. The rabbit returned to the brush.
Residents of an apartment at Mill Valley Estates called police at about 6 p.m. Friday to report their neighbors have a small dog that barks whenever someone walks by. The dog was not barking at the time the report was made.
MOTOR VEHICLE
ACCIDENTS
The driver of a red 2013 Fiat 500 crashed into a telephone pole at about 5:25 p.m. Saturday on College Street, snapping the pole clean at its base. The driver said she’d been turning, even though the road is straight, police said. The pole was replaced and no injuries were reported.
SATURDAY JUNE 14
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
A caller reported at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday that a dark gray sedan had pulled in front of her house on Kamins Circle and one of its two occupants had gone up to the house with a flashlight, then returned to the car and left when dogs barked. Police said an area search was negative.
DISTURBANCES
Police responded at about 12:10 a.m. Saturday to complaints of a party and a possible fight on Harvard Avenue. Guests at the party were loud and disruptive, police said, and beer cans littered the neighborhood. Officers saw a flag for the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity in the house, and the resident told them he was a member of the fraternity. Police will forward the report to Greek Life at UMass, police said. They also gave the resident a lengthy warning and told him to clean up after his party.
At about 12:50 a.m. that morning, police received a complaint of 20 individuals in their late teens and early 20s urinating near Watson Farms Rentals on Main Street. Police determined they were leftover partygoers from the Harvard Avenue party, and the individuals moved along.
SUNDAY, JUNE 15
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
A caller reported a possum sitting in the driveway next to hers at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday. She said the possum wouldn’t move when approached by an animal or dog, police said. The animal was then dispatched.
