An exhibit of artwork by students at Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter School in South Hadley opened Thursday, and will be on view through May 28 at Hope & Feathers Framing and Gallery, 319 Main St. in Amherst. There will be an artists’ reception Saturday from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
On view will be drawing, painting, fashion, photography and sculpture by PVPA students. The works explore a diverse array of themes, subjects, materials and methods. The student artists are Justice Alexander, Barry Auclair, Claire Bennet, Alex Chase, Claire Conklin, Brigit Ferry, Devon Franz, Nora Harris, Lauren LeCours, Bridget MacNeill, Emma O’Dell and Alex Robles.

The improvisational comedy troupe the Ha-Ha’s will perform Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Pioneer Valley Co-Housing at 120 Pulpit Hill Road in Amherst.
The show is all improvised scenes, songs and games, and is interactive, with audience members invited to give suggestions for the scenes, or maybe even come up on stage.
The content of the show will be family-friendly.

Landscape artist Susan Valentine will hold an open studio and gallery show Friday through May 29 at the Barnes Gallery at Leverett Crafts and Arts, 13 Montague Road in Leverett. There will be a reception Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m.
Featured will be oil paintings made over the past few years, including very large and very small landscapes, still lifes and florals.

David and Sophie Buskin will appear Saturday at 7 p.m. at this month’s Song & Story Swap at the Nacul Center, 592 Main St. in Amherst.
David Buskin has been writing and performing music his entire life, most recently as part of the comical geezer trio Modern Man, which, has been described as filling the void between The Three Tenors and the Three Stooges. He performed in the folk-rock duo of Buskin & Batteau, as well as with Mary Travers, Judy Collins, Johnny Mathis and many others.
Bushkin will be joined by his daughter, singer/songwriter and budding guitarist Sophie Buskin.

A performance by The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in HD will be presented Sunday ay 2 p.m. at Amherst Cinema, 28 Amity St., in Amherst.
On the program: “Revelations,” a tribute to the African American experience that explores grief and joy; “Chroma,” a contemporary ballet; “Grace,” a spiritually charged work that combines modern and West African dance traditions; and “Takedeme,” a humorous, high-flying dance.
Tickets cost $18 ($9 for students at the box office only).
“The Seventh Seal,” Ingmar Bergman’s allegory of a man’s search for meaning, will be shown Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the cinema.
The screening is part of the theater’s “CineMeditation” series — four films that explore faith and spirituality.
In the film, a disillusioned crusader returns home to find his country gripped by the Black Death. When Death comes for him, the crusader wagers his life in a fateful game of chess.

“Just a Piece of Cloth,” a documentary about Muslim women, the hijab and other issues of Islamaphobia and racism, will be shown May 12 at 7 p.m. in the Woodbury Room at Jones Library in Amherst. A facilitated discussion will follow.

In preparation for its third open juried exhibit, Gallery A3 invites artists to submit works for consideration, by July 3.
The show will be held July 7-30, with receptions July 7 and 16, and an artist talk July 21, at the gallery at 28 Amity St. in Amherst.
Gallery A3 is a cooperative, contemporary fine art gallery. Its members include painters, sculptors, photographers and mix media artists.
The juror will be Mara Williams, chief curator at the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center in Vermont.
