Alexander A. Rivas, 20, of The Brook, was arrested March 18 at 2:51 a.m. on North Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger, failure to stay within marked lanes and speeding, police said.
David J. Knapp, 44, who provided an address as the streets of Amherst, was arrested March 15 at 1:14 p.m. behind the CVS Pharmacy on North Pleasant Street on a charge of disorderly conduct after he was found urinating in the area, police said.
Mark E. Jarrett, 21, of Rolling Green Apartments, was arrested March 15 at 9:18 p.m. at the Craig’s Place homeless shelter on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and trespassing after he caused a scene and struck another guest with a stick, police said

Jocelyn Brick, 27, of Hatfield, was arrested March 20 at 8:01 p.m. on Rocky Hill Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle to endanger, failure to stay within marked lanes and possession of a class E substance, police said.

7:42 p.m. – A downtown resident reported that someone may have tried to get into the home after he heard the door knob turning and observed a trash can knocked over. No one was located there.
9:51 p.m. – Police responded to Colonial Village where an intoxicated man was trying to get into the wrong residence. He was escorted back to his home.

10:20 a.m. – A Logtown Road resident reported two credit card accounts were opened in her name without her permission.
11:07 a.m. – A person came to the police station to report losing $1,450 after paying a person to get a kitten sent by Pet Airways. The kitten never arrived and it’s unlikely the money can be recovered, police said.

2:15 p.m. – A man making threatening comments toward people and drinking a beer while waiting at a bus stop near Town Hall was sent on his way.

12:07 a.m. – A Colonial Village resident reported $200 in cash stolen from her home.
5:21 p.m. – A woman who drank a container of milk and ate a Milky Way candy bar at Big Y Supermarket was issued a trespass notice.

7:23 p.m. – A vehicle went off Foxglove Lane and damaged a mailbox.

8:12 p.m. – Loud drumming on West Street was being made by people celebrating the Iranian New Year. They were advised to quiet down.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
11:50 a.m. – A man sleeping in the lower level of the Jones Library, bothering other patrons by snoring, was awoken and escorted from the building. He was warned not to return.
9:46 p.m. – Police located a homeless man sleeping inside a downtown ATM. He was advised to stay at the shelter for the night.

7:51 p.m. – An Amherst woman reported her neighbor dropped off an estimate from an autobody shop to fix his vehicle, which he alleges her children damaged. Police spoke to the man and advised him that there is no evidence the damage was caused by the neighbor’s children.

8:52 p.m. – A drunken man pushing a shopping cart erratically in the Big Y Supermarket, who also grabbed the tie of a manager, fled before police got there.
10:48 p.m. – Police responded to the Craig’s Place homeless shelter where two men were fighting. Both were removed from the site for the night.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
1:41 p.m. – Police checked the interior of a dilapidated Northampton Road home for people loitering inside it. No one was found, though the odor of marijuana lingered.
6:18 p.m. – A woman shopping at a University Drive store reported she was approached from behind by a suspicious man while returning to her vehicle. The suspicious man was not located.

11:09 a.m. – Management at Village Park Apartments was advised to deal with an ongoing issue in which one resident was bothering another resident by smoking marijuana.

9:51 a.m. – A woman told police she was driving on Olympia Drive and was stopped for a trash truck when a woman standing alongside the road cursed at her and demanded that she drive around the stopped truck.

9:28 a.m. – Management at The Laundry Club on University Drive reported a break-in to the business. No additional information was available from police.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
1:41 a.m. – A man yelling at a parking meter in Boltwood Avenue told police he was upset that the PVTA buses had stopped running for the night.
9:25 a.m. – A tent pitched in the Wildwood Cemetery, possibly belonging to a homeless person, was not found by police. A woman walking her dog earlier in the day said she was concerned by the presence of the tent.
6:26 p.m. – Police were called to a downtown restaurant where a homeless man was sleeping inside.
6:32 p.m. – Several children standing near the entrance to Rolling Green Apartments shouting at passing vehicles to honk, and cursing at drivers who refused to acknowledge them, fled before police got there.
7:28 p.m. – Two intoxicated men loitering near the First Congregational Church were sent on their way.

4:32 p.m. – A woman reported someone filed fraudulent income tax returns in her name. She was advised to contact the Internal Revenue Service.

7:38 p.m. – One patient was evaluated at the scene by paramedics with the Amherst Fire Department following a two-car crash on Sunderland Road, police said.
Both vehicles were driven from the scene, according to police.

3:01 p.m. – A man promoting the American Civil Liberties Union while standing on the sidewalk in front of Antonio’s Pizza told police he was shoved into a wall by a passer-by. He was advised about the procedure for pressing charges.
