A sixteen-year-old girl was transported to a Boston hospital with critical injuries after her Mitsubishi SUV collided head-on with a box truck on Langley Parkway Tuesday afternoon, police said.

A little after 4 p.m., the SUV was heading towards Clinton Street when it collided with the box truck, which was headed towards Concord Hospital.

The young female driver was trapped inside the vehicle, according to Concord Police. Firefighters had to use extraction tools to get her out of the car and she was transported to Concord Hospital and later transferred to a Boston hospital due to the extent of her injuries. The driver of the box truck sustained minor injuries and was also taken to Concord Hospital.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage. Concord police blocked off traffic from Langley Parkway while they investigated and cleared the scene.

The crash occurred after one vehicle, police would not say which one, crossed over the center line into the opposite lane at a bend in the road. Multiple people said they witnessed the crash, and investigators remained on the scene into Wednesday morning. Concord Police would not release the names of the two drivers.
