Garden report: I am devastated. The sugar snap peas that were several inches high have disappeared! The plants were eaten by a creature — don’t know which one.
I have more seeds but reluctant to replant and be disappointed again. However, the cucumbers are untouched.
Some flowers are still in bloom: lisianthus, sweet William, asters, black-eyed Susans, salvia, ageratum, gomphrena, marigolds and nasturtiums. The autumn sedum is turning color.

Rob Kusner of Amherst hand-delivered two postcards to me at the Farmers Market. One has a photo of the Issac Newton Institue for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge , England, the other was a photo of the Casino Espanol in Iquique, Chile. He wrote that he sent a card from Chile as an experiment and it took a month to be delivered. Hence, the hand delivery. He said he wants to win the winter cookie contest.
