Garden report: I made a gallon of spaghetti sauce. Tomatoes are still ripening. I will get another eggplant and several more peppers. I have watered vegetables and flowers.
Autumn has arrived. A tree in Orchard Valley has already turned color and is shedding leaves. The color shift is evident as you drive around town.

Do you have a toaster or lamp that needs fixing? Bring them to the first Repair Cafe that will be held at the Jones Library on Saturday, Sept. 28 from noon until 4:30 p.m., according to an email from Janet Ryan, head of programming and outreach at the library. There is a link to sign up but it’s too long and I don’t want to make a mistake. You can visit the library website at www.joneslibrary.org to register, or call Janet at 259-3223 to say you are coming.
Volunteers to repair items would be appreciated. Give her a call.
Thanks to Janet for organizing this. Volunteers in Northampton have been providing such a service for many years. There was a photo recently in the Gazette of a repaired vintage lamp.

Betsy and David Mullins hand-delivered a postcard to me at the Block Party. How neat is that! The postcard features the walls of Cappadocia in Turkey with hot air balloons floating above. They said they rode in a balloon. They were three days on a classic wooden Turkish yacht called a gulet. They visited Antalya and Ephesus.
The Block Party was absolutely packed with so many people , vendors and restaurants. I still don’t know how the stilt walkers do it. I have to think about where to put one foot in front of the other when I am walking.
