Notable March dates: March 13 marks the fifth anniversary of when our world stopped because of COVID. Earth still turned but all public places closed. I didn’t leave the house for a month. I left money on the porch and neighbors left food. Thank you, friends.

March 14 is Pi day. Eat a sweet or savory pie.

March 15 is the Ides.

March 17: St. Patrick Day greetings to all our Irish friends and neighbors.

The Northampton Historical Society will present Charmaine Nelson speaking on ” An Introduction to Transatlantic and Canadian Slavery,” March 19 at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

Theater news: The Missoula Children’s Theater is back and will present “Hercules” March 29 at 1:30 and 4 p.m. at the Regional Middle School auditorium. But first, performers are needed. Auditions for K-12 students will be held March 24. For details, visit www.mctinc.org.

The Valley Players need two actors and four crew members for “A Walk in the Woods,” which will be presented in June, according to an email from Matteo Pangallo. Auditions are March 24 and 26. Visit www.valleyplayers.org to set up an audition.

Sad news: Andrew Starr told me his father, Norton Starr, died. Norton, who was 88, lived in Amherst before moving to be near family. He was at Amherst College for 43 years. Condolences to his family and friends.
