A recent CNN headline read: “At Least 90 Palestinians reported killed in Israeli strike targeting Hamas military chief.” The news article goes on to say that the site bombed, Al-Mawasi, was “designated as a safe zone for Palestinians fleeing the fighting elsewhere … a senior staffer at UNRWA, the UN’s agency for Palestinians\ refugees, described the Nasser hospital, which took in victims of the strike, as “the most horrific scenes I have seen in my nine months in Gaza.” These kinds of massacres happen regularly in Gaza. Make no mistake. The Israeli Defense Forces know full well the degree of devastation these “targeted” bombings will cause. They know the size of the blasts and the radii of the killing and injuries that will occur. And usually, these attacks use U.S. made bombs and missiles. There is little, if any difference between deliberately targeting civilians and indiscriminate bombing of areas with civilian populations. More children have been killed in Gaza since Oct 7, 2023 than the 8,038 children living in Amherst and Northampton together.
