AMHERST — An Amherst man is facing criminal charges after allegedly placing a deer’s heart on a vehicle’s windshield on Fearing Street on Christmas Day, police said.

The 21-year-old man is being summoned to court on charges of disturbing the peace and trespassing as a result of the incident involving the animal’s organ, police said.

Police identified the man as the culprit following a brief investigation that began when the family notified the Police Department at 11:13 a.m. that the animal heart was on the windshield of a silver 2004 Toyota Corolla in their driveway.

The suspect was located and admitted placing the heart on the vehicle, police said.
